On Wednesday I attended the ‘InstaGlam’ event held by the Lisa Shepherd Salon in Birmingham. Lisa Shepherd is a precision colour artist with over 30 years experience, she manages three salons across the Midlands. The Birmingham Salon was built within a former bank and is situated near the Cathedral, on Temple Row. The interior has been designed to make the most of the original architecture with the modern addition of a glass roof above the styling area.
“In all our salons we have tried to create a sensory experience teaming up with aesthetic practicality. Splashes of different coloured neon lights in a fundamentally white salon interior are completed with scarlet reception pods and the bright retail area.”
Recently Lisa designed the ‘Colour Bar experience’, an innovation which has just been adopted by global haircare giant Redken and could soon be appearing in a salon near you! Heres how it works:
- Make your Color Bar appointment (on the day or in advance)
- You’ll receive a colour consultation with one of the highly trained Lisa Shepherd team
- The appointment includes one colour application, choose from one of the six available colour services on the Color Bar menu
- When the colour’s rinsed off, move over to the blast dry area where we’ll lend you a hairdryer and fantastic Redken products for you to blow dry your own hair.
- Upgrade your Color Bar appointment to include a pro blow dry with one of the team. Choose from our pro blow dry menu available in the salons
To celebrate the launch of the Colour Bar, a group of beauty and fashion bloggers were invited to the Birmingham salon to see the bar in action; as well as to view the interior, receive complimentary pampering by the stylists and beauty therapists and meet the salon’s staff! They laid on a wonderful buffet of food (including fabulously rich cupcakes) to nibble on whilst working your way around the treatments. These included hair curling and straightening as well as colourful manicures; also the girls from the Selfridges Clarins counter were there to offer massage and facials. I travelled to the event with beauty blogger Sara, and fashion blogger Chloe, Sara is pictured below having her hair beautifully curled. The event was a huge success, the salon was absolutely packed as you can see from my photos below!
The Salon Interior:
The luxury treatments…
The Food… (I’m sure these cupcakes were made to be instagrammed!)
…and finally Sara’s wonderful hair!
The color bar* concept sounds perfect for anybody in a rush, and is fab for people with hair like mine that does not cope well with an expensive salon blow dry! Often I’ve stood at the till with hair resembling Tine Turners wishingI’d had the nerve to grab the hair dryer myself and style it like I do at home, now I can …without being rude! Its lovely that they give you access to the products to play with too, perfect to try before you buy! The pricing for the color bar* is very reasonable too:
After the event we were all given a fabulous goodie bag which included many luxury samples and a GHD heat mat, as well as a baby pink GHD tote to carry everything home in!
So what do you think of the Salon, the color bar* concept, and most importantly Sara’s hair?
