The Coventry University Degree Showcase has begun! Last Thursday the Fashion students saw their hard work come to fruition as their designs were paraded down the catwalk during the opening act of the Degree Showcase. The show included work created by First, Second and Third year students as well as Graduate Level Collections.
Fashion students at Coventry University study a wide range of Fashion related subjects gaining skills in Garment and Accessory Design, Styling, Visual-Display, Marketing, Photography, Jewellery, Pattern Cutting and Manufacture, and they are encouraged to find a specialism within the course that reflects their chosen vocation and the Degree Show will exhibit the full spectrum of this work.
This year, for the first time, Coventry School of Art and Design’s final year Fashion students are showing their collections at Free Range Fashion Week, from Friday 6th – Monday 9th June.
After working with the University social media team, who were interviewing models, makeup artists and designers, I was lucky enough to be invited backstage to photograph the behind-the-scenes element of the event. I know a lot of my readers have a huge interest in fashion, with many wishing to become stylists or designers themselves, so I wanted to share the images with you. The collections were stunning; as I was rushing around trying to photograph everyone without getting in their way, I encountered bold chaotic patterns, fabulous textures, luxury french materials and outrageous headpieces.

Personally I prefer to shoot in black and white but I have added a few colour images to allow you to really understand the vibrancy of the creations going out on to that catwalk. I will add a link to the catwalk shots of the complete outfits when they are available too.
