Blue Owl Therapy

Twitter is a fabulous way to meet like-minded people, and it was through a mutual twitter friend (a twit?) that today’s blog post came about. They introduced me to Amanda, an award-winning local therapist who owns her own business, ‘Blue Owl Therapy‘.

Amanda is fully trained in massage, reflexology, facials and pre and post natal treatments. Most excitingly, she is an independent Neal’s Yard consultant and uses their luxury organic products in the majority of her treatments.

“Receive professional quality therapy with caring one-to-one attention focusing on your wellbeing. All treatments will be personalised to your specific needs, following a consultation, using quality organic products that are most effective and appropriate to you.”

Blue Owl Therapy is based in Leamington Spa, with an additional location in Warwick. As an element of her work with Neal’s Yard, Amanda also demonstrates their products and her treatments at ‘Pamper Parties’ held at client’s homes. You could host your own party for your friends and family, where you can try the treatments, purchase products plus benefit from Amanda’s expertise.

Amanda invited me to visit her at Blue Owl Therapy Room to understand more about her work and the products she uses. I was also allowed to bring people along, which is where my best girls Charlotte and Kathryn got roped in ^_^ . Amanda began with an introduction to herself and her business, before giving us an in-depth overview of the products she uses and finishing with the most amazing bamboo massage demonstration …on me! (Yes, there are photographs, see below…)

What struck me at once was Amanda’s professionalism. There was no sales spiel, just an obvious interest in her client’s wellbeing and an impressive knowledge of the treatments and products that can influence it. Amanda’s business began back in 2010 when she began realising her dream of practising massage and completed various qualifications including a VTCT Level 3 Swedish Massage Diploma and a Level 3 Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Following the birth of her daughter Amanda began searching for products which could be used safely on her little girl, it was during that search that she came across Neal’s Yard.

Over the next few years Amanda completed many more qualifications and became a fully trained therapist. She took the brave decision to leave her high-flying career and start her own business – Blue Owl Therapy is now one year old and constantly thriving. She hasn’t looked back.

The success of blue owl therapy is both incredible and inspirational; when Blue Owl was less than eight months old Amanda was nominated for the Leamington Business Awards in the health and beauty category:

This award acknowledges the best in the business. It goes to a health and beauty business that provides impeccable service, delighting their clients with innovative and inspiring beauty treatments and results that really work.”

In October 2014 it was announced that Amanda and Blue Owl Therapy had won – beating many other long established businesses. Amanda was amazed to win the award:

I sat for a few seconds, startled, in shock, and then realised I had to go on stage to collect my award.  I hadn’t prepared.  I wasn’t supposed to win.  I was up against strong competition.

My journey hasn’t been an easy one, at times I have questioned why I am doing this.  Inspired by my own experiences with therapies, the answer is simple.  I love what I do and I love helping others.  If I can make a difference to someone that results in a positive effect then it’s all worth it.

This award is not just based on business success, but on the quality of service given by innovative and inspiring people. Amanda has all of these qualities and more; it is easy to see why she won, even though she remains politely puzzled about her success! Not just a Neal’s Yard consultant, Amanda also works at beauty trade shows and has been an ‘Infinity Angel’, showcasing new therapy techniques for massage specialists the Infinity Training Academy.

Amanda opened an additional Blue Owl Therapy location in September this year, and her next goal is to start treating people in their work place – a neck massage on my lunch break? Yes, please!
I truly believe that Amanda’s journey with Blue Owl Therapy has only just begun.

You can read more about Amanda and her work here. To make an appointment, call 07941 075 831 and leave a message, email info@blueowltherapy.co.uk or simply fill out the contact form on the website. Amanda kindly donated samples of popular Neal’s Yard products, these will be reviewed shortly.

I’ll leave the final few words to Amanda herself…

If you’d like to host a social gathering, party or event with a theme of your choice, I can come to your house or venue to provide the opportunity for you and your friends to experience the fantastic range of products available.  You will get a free “Yes Gift” for booking a date; a free “Host Gift” (typically worth £20) and depending on your total sales you can receive free products and half price shopping!”
